+Pro/CABLE Training Wildfire 4.0
Course Duration:
24 Hours - 40 Hours
Tuition: $1500- $2500 USD respectively
Overview:
In this course, participants will gain a healthy knowledge of routing
cables and individual conductors in Pro/E assemblies. They will also learn
how to create 3-D electrical harnesses thru Pro/E assemblies using Routed
Systems Designer. Participants will learn how to route electrical harnesses,
create flattened harnesses for manufacturing, and document harness designs
by creating flattened harness drawings that include customized BOM tables
and wire list information. Participants will also learn how to create
Wiring Block Diagrams and utilize that data for later autoroute functions
thru assemblies. After successfully completing the course, participants
will be able to create 3-D electrical harnesses and associated manufacturing
deliverables using Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0. The 40 hour course covers
extensive study and use of RSD or Mentror Graphics for creating harnesses
automatically.
Training Track: Design Engine offers
an RSD
week workshop as a part of a cabling track.. Design Engine can also assist
in the customization of company blocks that correspond with logical references
to Pro/ENGINEER connectors. Call 312.226.8339 to inquire
Note: There are two classes available.
One is a three day training class and the other is a five day training
class. The use of RSD wiring diagrams can be offered for both workshops.
The five day is a more exhaustive study of Pro/CABLE that utilizes RSD
wire diagrams for creating harness in assemblies and focuses heavy upon
auto route and problem solving harnesses.
Prerequisites: General knowledge of
Pro/ENGINEER and a basic understanding
of assemblies and top down will be design helpful.
these wires are routed to connectors that plug into connectors in
different assembly.
Topics: (can include)
Modeling 3-D Electrical Harnesses with Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 or 5.0
Introduction to top down design with respet to Pro/CABLE and harness design.
In this course students learn how to create 3D electrical harnesses
using Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0. This includes using schematic diagrams
created with Routed Systems Designer to pass information into 3-D harness
designs created within Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0.
Participants learn how to route electrical harnesses through Pro/E assemblies
and separated top down models, create flattened harnesses for manufacturing,
and document harness designs by creating flattened harness drawings that
include customized BOM tables and wire list information. Participants
will gain a firm grasp on large assemblies and top down design in these
workshops.
After successfully completing the course, participants will be able to
create 3-D electrical harnesses and associated manufacturing deliverables
using Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. Participants will also be able to use Routed
Systems Designer to create wiring block diagrams, prepare RSD drawings
for XML export and automatically route wires thru Pro/E assemblies.
Recommendations
It is strongly recommended that cabling designers attend this course
and the Creating 2-D Schematics with RSD 6.0 or 7.0 and Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire
4.0 course. This will enable methodology of the complete process and an
understanding of how the configuration of deliverables from RSD such as
wiring diagrams provide essential input for creating electrical harness
assemblies.
Audience
This course is intended for engineers, involved in the 3-D routing of
electrical cabling and wire harnesses or Electrical Technicians who need
more accurate harness drawings.

copy geometry surface features from sub assemblies to ease file size for
lighter routing.
Topics
-Diagram and Harness Development Process Overview.
-Creating Wiring Diagrams in RSD.
-Modify existing RSD diagrams for successfully XML export to -Pro/ENGINEER
assemblies for autorouting.
-Transferring RSD Information into Harness Designs.
-Managing harness assembly designs with top down design.
-Creating Electrical Harness Assembly Structures.
-Routing Wires and cables in harness designs.
-Creating Flat Harnesses for Manufacturing.
-Creating Harness Drawings.
- Workflow issues with respect to construction thru to major changes to
harness assemblies.
Discussions:
- Discuss how RSD integrated with routing cables and autoroute
work together to enhance efficiency.
- Discuss alternate ways to gather usable connectors i.e. iges from web
site resources.
- Discuss the difference between wires and conductors
- Discuss how to handle modifications to a cable if parts in the assembly
turn up missing.
- Discuss how top down design aids in the cable routing process.
- Discuss why a designer might want to use top down design relationships
made for routing harnesses before submitting to a team center or intralink
or other library system.
- Discuss problems with autoroute with respect to spool data, RSD and
Network Cables.
- Discuss solutions workflow with respect to initial construction of cables
thru to autorouting process.
Projects & Tutorials:Design Engine
has prepared a series of 15 Pro/CABLE tutorials and RSD tutorials designed
to lead the participants through the cabling design and modification process.
These HTML and video tutorials are left with the participants thru a password
protected web site for a continued Design Engine learning experience.
Projects & Tutorials: However Design
Engine is prepared to generate custom training materials upon student
company interests or job requirements this preparation process takes time.
Ten to twenty hours is often required for generating custom HTML tutorials.

RSD can route pipes as well as cables as in the case of this screen
shot.
Routed Systems Designer requires preparation before exporting XML into
Pro/ENGINEER assembly.
