+Pro/CONCEPT Course

Course Duration: 40 Hours

Tuition: $2000 US
Overview: The student will learn Polygon modeling for ultimate transfer into a surface modeling package or Pro/ENGINEER and discuss general modeling approaches as it relates specifically to Pro/CONCEPT and ultimate export into Pro/ENGINEER.

Prerequisite: Industrial Design degree helpful but not necessary.

Topics: Overview of user interface and quick reference and associated key strokes. We will discuss creating soaps 'Solid Primitive tools' and manipulating the soaps with transforms, bends, Warps, Sculpt, Boolean, Routers and Rims. Also discuss proper technique for refinement, smooth and decimate functions. Discuss curve creation and then edit tools in detail and go over how those curves and resultant surfaces can effect polygon soaps.

Discuss 3d paint effects and relevant paint effects and discover how those paint effects can manipulate polygonal form as an effort for proving form. Also discuss artwork document control in this new electronic format. Go over in detail airbrush, marker, blur and clone tools. Also discuss how paint tools might be able to effect polygon forms such as 'Displace with Paint' functions.

Discuss layers and how they are similar and different from Pro/DESIGNER and or Pro/ENGINEER.

Overview of Pro/ENGINEER 'Restyle' suite of tools for bringing polygon forms into Pro/ENGINEER as surface models.

Overview on rendering inside Pro/CONCEPT. Cover procedural mapping, lighting, environment editors and Photo Lux tools. Discuss differences and similarities to Pro/DESIGNER and Wildfire release of Pro/ENGINEER.

Compare to other polygon modelers such as 3d Max and Maya complete with examples. Discuss strengths and weakness of discussed polygon modeling tools.
